The Donald will be the first president who refuses to release his taxes. Imagine if Bernie Sanders refused to release his taxes! If such an event occurred, every republican would grab their cross, light it on fire, and protest around the neighborhood. If there is one thing that The Donald has proven, it’s that he is special and different. He bears the strength of a grizzly bear or a shark. A spear that would slay the typical monster, The Donald picks his teeth with. Quotes that may destroy one politician only make The Donald stronger.
The Donald’s campaign claims that there isn’t anything in his taxes and the only people who want him to release his taxes are people who want him to fail in his run. That logic seems sort of contradictory. If his campaign is correct, then The Donald should have no reason NOT to release such information, because it would just shut his opposition up and prove them wrong. If there isn’t anything in his taxes, why wouldn’t he want to do that?
In his book “Temples of Chance”, David Cay Johnston revealed documents that showed Trump’s net worth early in his career.
Tax Paid: $18,714
Tax Paid: $10,832
Tax Paid: $42,386
Tax Paid: $0
Tax Paid: $0
That was almost forty years ago. I understand such dated information can tell us little to nothing about his financial affairs today. However, if the only returns out there show a negative annual income, the fact that he refuses to reveal his taxes is quite indicative of something. You would assume that The Donald would be eager to rectify our suspicions. Why would someone whose number one selling point is how successful he is, not want to reassure the public that he is actually successful?
On Meet The Press, The Donald has even admitted,
I try and pay as little tax as possible, because I hate what they do with my tax money. I hate the way they spend our money.
If he released his tax returns it would also help determine whether The Donald has been misstating his income. His financial disclosure form in 2014 for example, listed his income at $362 million. That figure is YUGE but apparently it includes some things that should not be considered taxable income. Like $4.3 million in “golf-related revenue” from his Scotland course – the same course that lost more than $2 million that year after taking costs into account.
I know some people think The Donald is great. He is a hoot when he starts talking on that microphone, and his wife is hot, and he is a television star. But he always says how much he loves the country and how he really wants to make it great again. Would you think that someone who cheated on his taxes and refused to give a cent back to this beautiful country really cared at all about it? Would you still support him, if it turned out that YOU paid more taxes than The Donald?
Another disturbing proclamation that revealing his taxes can make on The Donald is how charitable he has been.
A Smoking Gun review of the group’s Internal Revenue Service returns reveals that the Donald may not be very charitable at all. Actually, he gains the title as the least charitable billionaire in America. So he wants to make America great again, he just doesn’t want to donate to it, or at least not with his own money.
In his defense, the Donald J. Trump Foundation helps vets. Between 1990 and 2008, The Donald donated $3.7 million to his own foundation. That certainly is no pile of peanuts, but that amount is not even the most to his own foundation. Vince and Linda McMahon donated more than double.
The Trump Foundation made donations totaling $6.7 million. That sure is a lot more than I donated. But I’m not a billionaire. Compared with other billionaires like Bill Gates, Warren Buffett, Larry Ellison, Ted Turner, Michael Bloomberg, David Geffen, or S.I. Newhouse, that $6.7 is small change.
Just to give you a perspective, Michael Bloomberg in JUST 2008 donated $235 million. According to the IRS, Larry Ellison in 2009 gave his medical foundation stock of more than $73 million. S.I. donated $11.8 million in 2009.
Remember Leona Helmsley, the wife of real estate tycoon Harry, The Donald’s arch enemy? Leona died in 2007, and left billions to her trust. In one month, her trust made donations of almost $13 million. That figure is nearly twice what The Donald’s foundation made in the past 20 years.
When recent epic tragedies struck America, like 9-11 and Katrina, and individuals worth a fraction of what Trump claims to be worth, donated enormous amounts to help out – the Donald was M.I.A.
Actually, in 2006, Trump’s foundation did give $1,000 to the New York Rescue Workers Detoxification Fund. You probably never heard of this controversial Tom Cruise co-founded Scientology program that suggested workers that inhaled toxins at the World Trade Center should be treated with a “Purification Rundown”.
