When Donald Trump first came on the scene, I thought he was hilarious. The humor in his campaign was that he was so terrible, yet he had enormous support, sort of like Benny Hill. If you have ever seen the show, you watch it and think to yourself, who likes this stuff? Yet it is so popular.
He was the first presidential candidate to actually gain support by disparaging enormous chunks of our population. Women, Muslims, Hispanics, everyone except babies and old white guys were ridiculed by Trump.
I was convinced, during that psychedelic stage of the election, that Trump was actually a Democrat in disguise, trying to destroy the Republican party. After all, Donald Trump had been a democrat his whole life.
But then his victory proved me wrong. Or did it?
Another reason that I got such a kick out of him, was because he appeared to be tearing the Republican party in two. The overwhelming support he initially attained, were from these knuckle-dragging, barn-kicking, ultra right-wing conservatives, who weren’t even registered as republicans.
Most of these supporters hated both republicans and democrats. As Trump’s Chief Strategist Steve Bannon proclaimed on his radio show, “I want to bring everything crashing down, and destroy all of today’s establishment.” Those supporters hate government.
All they wanted was someone who would do some ethnic cleansing in America. And then when he chose Bannon, the chief editor of the number one white supremacist website, to be his chief strategist!? WOW! Trump was their guy!
After his victory, America is in a state of turmoil not seen in my lifetime. Trump is to be stubborn to acknowledge his faults. No way will he back down. The fight is just starting. It will get real bad. Republicans and democrats alike are in opposition to all of his policies. I hope he does not back down in his fight to lock our borders. Every minute that this struggle persists, republicans sink deeper into an abyss they will not be able to climb out of.
I hope Trump’s immigration ban sticks today. I’m sure Trump is secretly hoping that the judge rules that his ban is unconstitutional. That would be like a ‘Get out of jail free’ card. A democratic victory would be a buzz-kill for him, but that noise would not last too long. Trump would get over it.
If the ban sticks though, opposition towards him would become even more frantic. The world would join in unison against Trump. One by one, even Republicans would have to forsake their orange idol. As a result of our president’s juvenile stubbornness, if his ban is ruled legitimate, Trump would defend it even more righteously. As the opposition mounted, Trump’s defense would also become more intense. It would be an awesome fight!
The Republican party is dying, although their saving grace is the republican’s senile memory. How anyone could vote Republican after Junior plunged the country into a depression and into a war based on fabricated intel is beyond me. Yet they vote for mental midgets like Sarah Palin, Herman Cain and Donald Trump.
Fret not, my fellow democrat. Trump did win the election. But who really lost the election? Democrats or republicans? Consequently, democrats will survive Trump’s presidency, Republican chances are murky.
