On Saturday, Trump shocked the world by accusing previous President Obama of wiretapping him. If this is true, we could be on the precipice of one of the most damaging presidential conspiracies since Watergate. In fact, in these fragmented and often psychedelic tweets, Trump compared Obama to Richard Nixon. He also called him a “bad (or sick) guy.”

After making such a scandalous accusation, it was quite indicative how silent the White House became the entire day following that tweet. Even more bizarre was how no one in Trump’s administration provided any evidence that would back up his claims. To this day, Trump’s “source” is unknown.

In the tweet, Donald Trump says “Just found out that Obama had my ‘wires tapped’.” The fact that wire tapped is in quotes means that Trump has quotable intel, a.k.a: sources. Our president needs to reveal his sources.

Imagine if Obama hurled similar screwball accusations at Bush Junior. Think of the hysteria that would have erupted in Washington! Trump does it though, and no one raises a single finger.

Hopefully, there will be an investigation. In that case, Trump’s little lie will become massive and many. The more lies he speaks the bigger his grave.

Trump is president today in part because of the campaign led by FBI Director James Comey. His mission to discredit Hillary Clinton went down swimmingly. Trump repayed James Comey’s loyalty by keeping his position. James Comey is the most superior position Trump kept from the Obama administration.
That is why it is so puzzling that James Comey requested that the Justice Department publicly deny President Trump’s allegation that President Obama had ordered a wiretapping of candidate Trump NPR article.

The mystery in Washington since Donald Trump has made this defaming accusation is to determine who this source is. Marco Rubio in an interview with CNNs Jake Tapper said,

I’m not sure what it is he is talking about. Perhaps the president has information that is not yet available to us or to the public, and if it’s true, obviously we’re going to find out very quickly, and if it isn’t, then obviously he’ll have to explain what he meant by it, so I — I don’t — I’m not sure what the genesis of that statement was, but I imagine we’re going to learn more about it here over the next couple of days one way or the other.

The Washington Post cited the only mention of this alleged Obama wiretapping is from a (drum roll, please) Breitbart article. If this is true, that means our president is skipping daily White House intel briefings and instead, gathering his news from Breitbart. God help us!

A few mere hours before Donald Trump tweeted his fantastical accusations, his Attorney General was forced to recuse himself from investigating Trump ties with Russian diplomats. Every day, more Trump officials are becoming in a Russian conspiracy. Our president certainly had reason to want to distract the country.
