On Saturday, Trump shocked the world by accusing previous President Obama of wiretapping him. If this is true, we could be on the precipice of one of the most damaging presidential conspiracies since Watergate. In fact, in these fragmented and often psychedelic tweets, Trump compared Obama to Richard Nixon. He also called him a “bad (or sick) guy.”
After making such a scandalous accusation, it was quite indicative how silent the White House became the entire day following that tweet. Even more bizarre was how no one in Trump’s administration provided any evidence that would back up his claims. To this day, Trump’s “source” is unknown.
In the tweet, Donald Trump says “Just found out that Obama had my ‘wires tapped’.” The fact that wire tapped is in quotes means that Trump has quotable intel, a.k.a: sources. Our president needs to reveal his sources.
Imagine if Obama hurled similar screwball accusations at Bush Junior. Think of the hysteria that would have erupted in Washington! Trump does it though, and no one raises a single finger.
I’m not sure what it is he is talking about. Perhaps the president has information that is not yet available to us or to the public, and if it’s true, obviously we’re going to find out very quickly, and if it isn’t, then obviously he’ll have to explain what he meant by it, so I — I don’t — I’m not sure what the genesis of that statement was, but I imagine we’re going to learn more about it here over the next couple of days one way or the other.
