Trump built his campaign around the middle class. He promised them the moon. However, all they got were lumps of coal in their stockings. Judging by the most recent republican legislation, life is about to get much tougher for the same working class that supported Trump. Republicans just passed a measure that will certainly anger every member of the working class.
Two days ago, republicans passed a measure that will allow employers to give workers paid time off instead of time and a half when they work overtime. Such a ruling means millions to wealthy business owners. The ruling also means a lot of Trump supporters feel duped.
As usual, republican politicians are convinced that they know what is best for their constituents. Sure, they might be getting less money, but they will spend more time with their family members. Isn’t that more important?
“I don’t think there’s anything more powerful than giving them more control over their time so that they can make the best decisions for themselves and their families,” Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers of Washington said Tuesday morning. CNN article
The measure means less money for the worker and more money for the boss. Republican politicians, cleverly labeled it Working Families Flexibility Act, trying to trick voters into thinking that this law gives them more flexibility.
Interesting tid-bit, but you wont find this story featured on Fox News. Perhaps a local fox channel might cover it, but Fox national news, the biggest media conglomerate in the country, did not. As a result, think of how many millions of republicans across the world will have no idea about the republican bulldozer headed straight for their home.
This bill has been in the making for more than two decades. Republicans have been desperately trying to lug it across America. However, every time a republican proposed the outlandish measure, it would quickly be silenced. Finally, it snuck through with no problem.
The Trump administration was all for it. The White House put out a news release, and suggested that the president would gladly sign it if placed on his desk. CNN article
