Vice President Mike Pence tries to make it seem that he is one patriotic dude. On Sunday, Mike Pence attended the Indianapolis Colts and San Francisco 49ers game. During the national anthem, Pence apparently was so devastated to witness some of the players refusing to pledge to our flag, that he left the game.
Considering players who did not the salute the flag, failed to salute it during their last game. Hence, why would Pence think they would do anything differently. In other words, he left because they did not salute the flag, although he knew that they wouldn’t.
Reports have priced Pence’s walkout at $250,000 in tax payer money. Any loyal Trumpkin would contend the tax payer should blame the football players. After all, to the untrained eye, had the football players pledged allegiance to the flag, then Pence would not have left. But what if Pence knew he was going to walk out? What if this whole temper tantrum walk out was planned?
Pence was so angry that fellow Americans would refuse to pledge their allegiance to the flag.
“I left today’s Colts game because @POTUS and I will not dignify any event that disrespects our soldiers, our Flag, or our National Anthem,” Pence tweeted.
Apparently though, Mike Pence never had any plans of staying for the whole game. ESPN reported the reporter in the press pool with Pence was told to stay outside the stadium since Pence would be leaving early. In addition, Pence was attending a fundraiser later in the day, which would have meant that he could not have stayed for the whole game. Inquisitr
Before he even stepped foot in the stadium, Mike Pence knew he wouldn’t be staying. The optics of this stunt though, for him and the president, were worth more than a million dollars. Their uneducated supporters loved watching Pence storm out of the game, because the players were not patriotic. Pence became even more glorified in their eyes. And those evil football players have become even more vilified.
The only good that came from that publicity stunt, was Trump and Pence’s approval rating with their base. That is quite a pricey publicity stunt though. $250,000 was burned up because Pence felt the players were not patriotic. What about choosing to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars to improve your image instead of saving countless lives in Puerto Rico? Many people would say that crime is much more despicable.
Mike Pence, that is disgusting. As our Vice President, you should be more concerned with saving American lives than worrying about your image. Then again, appearances is all what Trump’s presidency is about. To them, it is more important to appear patriotic than to actually be.
