Why do these anti-LGBT republicans always turn out to be latent homosexuals? If it happened once, there would be nothing to it. But at least once every other month, we read about some bible thumping conservative who is actually the very person that they have built their political career against. I love these articles, because they embody the essence of republican hypocrisy. There’s nothing wrong with same sex relationships. Live your life any way you want. However, there is something wrong when politicians try to enforce laws to prevent others from living how they want. It even gets more ridiculous when that same politician secretly lives the life they fight others from enjoying.
Essentially, this remarkable news story illustrates much more about the republican voter than the republican politician. Politicians just do things that their voters will like. It is questionable if that same anti-LGBT politician would be in office, if he was not anti-LGBT. Another republican politician would run against him, and claim to hate more people. Republican voters, of course, would elect the person who screams the loudest and hates the most.
33 year old Wes Goodman was an Ohio Republican state legislator. He is married to a woman who organizes annual anti-abortion rallies. Goodman was once branded the “conscience of the conservative movement”, Yahoo. His political career looked promising.
At all of his rallies, he would broadcast his anti-LGBT views. Wes always promoted “family values”. According to his Twitter page (that has been removed since), Wes believes that “natural marriage” is between a man and a woman. (someone please explain to me what “natural marriage” means)
This was found on Goodman’s campaign website,
The ideals of a loving father and mother, a committed natural marriage, and a caring community are well worth pursuing and protecting.
Another of his messages read,
Faith, family, service, stewardship, strong education, and investment in our local communities are what Ohioans value. My wife Bethany and I value those same things and are ready to get to work to serve you. Yahoo
Goodman’s political future came to a halt the other day, when he was caught having sex with a man in his office.
News keeps breaking about Wes Goodman. Apparently, he had been battling his homosexuality for years. He might have been gay his entire life. Which makes his anti-LGBT platforms even more sickening. According to the Cincinnati Enquirer, in 2015 Goodman unzipped the pants of a teenage boy and fondled him during the Council of National Policy.
From the Washington Post,
In his written statement, the young man said he awoke in the middle of the night to find Goodman’s hand “pulling down my zipper.” His pants had been unbuttoned and his zipper was down. He darted from the room at about 4 a.m. “I was shaken, dazed, confused and very upset,” he wrote.
I could only imagine how dumb republican voters feel when their seemingly virtuous choir boys turn out to be everything that they preach against. No one likes to be fooled. Wes Goodman and the rest of those deplorable republican politicians feed off the hatred of our society. It is much easier to run on hate than constructive platforms. Anyone can stand at the podium, listing the groups of people that they hate, and how we could discriminate them. This was how our president scaled the walls of the White House.
