Trump’s golden shower is gradually destroying himself as well as the republican party. Fox News is a fascinating insight into American culture. In a hundred years, sociologists will mull over republican’s obsession with Fox. We live in a democracy, yet our countries biggest news organization carefully sculpts the news to favor a political ideology. If I lived in North Korea or Russia, I wouldn’t be shocked to discover the one news channel I get on my television was in cahoots with the government. But Fox, the nation’s number one media conglomerate, sole mission, is to paint President Trump in a good light.

Fortunately, for the owners of Fox, their viewers have no problem with this. Fox viewers prefer news that is pleasing as opposed to news that is true. No bigger indicator of intelligence, than preferring news that validates opinions of your parents to the truth. Comparing Fox to news stations of Russia and North Korea is wrong, because in those regimes, at least the people don’t know any better. They have no alternative hence, they believe the one voice that tells them news. Fox viewers actually wedge their fingers in their ears and block out the truth, so that they could sit back on their porch and continue to believe that they are right. Those that just watch Fox, will rate Trump’s golden presidential performance as the best ever.

Google ‘Trump’ right now, and you’ll read a lot of damning stories. Whether they concern his increasing impeachment chances, his financial officer and his long time personal lawyer being granted immunity, there are even stories about a secret love child that shares Trump’s orange face and pouting lips. If you are a Trump supporter, things must look real bleak right now. Unless of course, you just watch Fox and listen to the president. In that case, you will be confident of Trump’s superiority. However, if you scroll past these hundreds of disgusting articles about our deplorable president, eventually you will find this, Trump is giving our youth hope for a better future – here’s how.

You can bet your bottom dollar, many-a-Trump devoted fan, will read this article (if they can read). It is a nice article. Once they finish, undoubtedly the Trump supporter will feel more pride for their president. Also, they will despise the “liberal media” for attacking the president and ignoring his accomplishments.  To  Fox viewers, Trump is like a golden fleece, displaying a pristine image of authority and kingship.

On a side note, the accomplishment hinted at by the Fox title, is very misleading in itself. The article touts the fact that in the past month of July, people aged 16-24 have the lowest number of unemployment in 50 years. Since the data is from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, that low percentage obviously only measures people IN the labor scene, people who are LOOKING for work. Let’s say only ten people in that age bracket in the whole country were looking for work, and all ten of them found a job. In that case, unemployment for that demographic in July would be 0%.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the amount of people aged 16-24 in the work market dropped from 69.1% in 1979 to 54.1% in 2014. Teenage workforce participation is even lower. In 1979, 59.3% were employed. In 2014, that number was at 32.6%. CNN

Ignoring the social duty a news organization has in a democracy, if Fox was just concerned about gaining viewership and money, then they are going about everything right. They are providing a very loyal and devoted group of viewers with news that substantiates their ideologies. As a result, Fox is #1 every single week. Level headed democrats will watch MSNBC or CNN. Every single republican watches FOX. So roughly half the country is split up among two channels, while the other half of the country just watches one channel.

However, during the previous week, saturated in Trump’s golden shower, Fox fell behind MSNBC in ratings. The last time MSNBC beat FOX for three nights in a row was more than a year ago, Forbes. Very rare! Trump has persuaded its audience that Trump is golden. How do they present unfavorable stories about him?

When Trump scandals break (at least once a day), turn on Fox. It is almost humorous to watch their reaction. The other day, as Manafort’s jury was gathering preparing to announce the verdicts, I put on Fox. On CNN, the anchor was saying how Manafort was facing decades of not the rest of his life in jail. When I put on Fox, they quoted one “legal analyst” was insisting the jury was deadlocked on all 18 of his charges. The Fox anchor cleverly postulated that Manafort was seen “smiling” all day. If I was a Trump supporter, and I saw this on the news, I would assume Manafort was smiling because the verdict that was about to be read was in his favor.

We discovered minutes later, that Manafort’s life was ruined. Sparing a pardon from Trump, Manafort will likely spend a decade, or the rest of his life, in jail. Would you be smiling if you were in his alligator skin shoes?

Fox was the only station on television that portrayed Manafort’s impending verdict positively. As if Fox considers it more important to keep it’s viewers happy than to tell them the sad and painful truth, that Trump’s empire is crumbling.
