We’ve been hearing about Trump’s military parade for a while now. At first, I wasn’t quite sure how to react. Was he kidding? Was the president of the United States really proposing a parade march down our streets? House and Senate defense panels approved plans for the parade in the 2019 defense budget blueprint. The House approved the parade last month.

According to a US defense official, the parade will feature 5,000 to 7,000 service members, 100 vehicles, 50 aircraft and 100 horses. On November 10, the parade will march from the US Capitol to the White House, ABCNews. November 10 is the Marine Corps. birthday.

It is anticipated that several thousand Armed Forces personnel will participate in the parade, as well as provide ceremonial support including musical units, marching bands, and color guards, to render appropriate ceremonial honors to our Nation’s military members, Veterans and their Families,” a spokesman for U.S. Northern Command told ABC News in a statement. “The parade will honor the contributions of veterans, the current force, and the future force. More details and specifics about the Veterans Day Military Parade will be announced at a later date.”

Military parades are often used in totalitarian regimes, like North Korea and the former Soviet Union, to instill patriotism. When the economy is bad or the country is sustaining military defeats, military parades are vehicles of propaganda, to showcase the country’s military might.

As bizarre as this parade is, the single question on my mind, is what role will Emperor Trump play. Ever since he witnessed France’s Bastille Day parade, Trump has been itching for one of his own. Trump said after the parade, “We’re going to have to try to top it.” Considering how important this parade is to Trump, I’d bet my bottom dollar, that Trump will lead the parade. Imagine tat! A draft dodger leading a military parade!

A US defense official confirmed to ABC News that the parade would cost $12 million. In February, Mick Mulvaney, the White House Budget Director, approved $10-30 million for the parade. Imagine that! A republican president pissing away $30 million for some silly parade. Aren’t they supposed to be fiscally responsible?

Besides worshiping King Trump, what is the purpose of this parade? A military parade today will certainly not perform the efficient propaganda as it did in the past. Two hundred years ago, when all I see in life is my stable, witnessing a procession of tanks and airplanes might be the highlight of my life. But now, when I can detail the size of every military in the world on my computer, military parades wont impress me.
